Recovery of ductility in hydrogen-embrittled Ni/sub 60/Nb/sub 35/Cr/sub 5/ glass

Journal Article · · Mater. Res. Bull.; (United States)

Ni/sub 60/Nb/sub 35/Cr/sub 5/ glass ribbons were embrittled by cathodic charging of hydrogen up to two different concentrations. Recovery of ductility in the embrittled glass was monitored through degassing of hydrogen at different temperatures. The data obtained have been employed to estimate the diffusion coefficient of hydrogen in the Ni/sub 60/Nb/sub 35/Cr/sub 5/ glass. It is shown that the diffusivity of hydrogen depends on the initial concentration. However, no concentration effect has been detected on the activation energy of diffusion.
