Recession forces companies to forego energy projects

Journal Article · · Energy User News; (United States)
OSTI ID:5081698
The recession and tight money have limited company investment to short-term and production projects and resulted in their foregoing conservation investments. Slower production schedules have lengthened the payback period for conservation projects that are funded, making new investments less attractive. Most firms have already undertaken the low-cost housekeeping measure, and would now have substantial investments in new equipment. The inability to do so threatens their competitive position at a time when fuel costs are increasing. (DCK)
