Environmental development plan for Buildings and Community Systems, 1977

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5073814
This Environmental Development Plan (EDP) identifies the environmental concerns which include ecological, social/economic, health, safety, and resource impacts associated with the ERDA research, development, and demonstration (RD and D) of buildings and community energy systems and presents an environmental research and development strategy for resolving the concerns. The EDP process provides a framework for: incorporating environmental considerations into agency planning processes at the earliest stages; resolving environmental concerns concurrently with energy technology development; and assuring that adverse environmental effects are mitigated through sound technological design and are at the same level of importance as technological, economic, and institutional issues in decision making. Four technology thrusts covered in this Buildings and Community Systems program are: Architectural and Engineering Systems; Consumer Products and Technology; Urban Waste Technology; and Community Systems.
