Environmental development plan for Electric Energy Systems Program, 1977

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5013337
This Environmental Development Plan (EDP) identifies and examines the physical, ecological, health, safety and socio-economic environment concerns associated with the research, development and demonstration of ERDA's Electric Energy Systems (EES) Program, the requirements and actions needed to resolve these concerns, and a time-phased action plan for the evaluation and mitigation of environmental impacts. This plan provides a framework for: incorporating environmental considerations into the planning process at the earliest stage; resolving environmental concerns concurrently with the technology development; and ensuring that adverse environmental effects are mitigated through sound technological design. This Environmental Development Plan addresses the Electric Energy System Program which includes the following technologies: overhead AC/DC Transmission;underground transmission (including superconducting transmission); generation; storage applications; systems development and forecasting studies; and systems control studies.
