Investors in energy supplies need to be alert to the factors that determine the prices of traditional energy forms and to changes in government policies toward financial incentives that encourage the development of alternatives. A review of solar thermal, photovoltaics, geothermal, wind energy, cogeneration conservation, and energy management systems concludes that solar photovoltaic, cogeneration, and conservation industries are the strongest, while wind energy and solar thermal are more dependent on investment incentives. The report identifies trends to watch and recommends flexibility on the part of investors. It cites 32 alternative energy companies and their stock summaries. 2 figures, 2 tables.
