Shell moves to enhance recovery in Wasson field

Carbon dioxide injection probably can extend the life of the Wasson field in far W. Texas by 25 yr. For Shell and its partners in the Denver unit of the field, that could be a gain of 280 million bbl - an increase in recovery from the unit of approx. one-third. Shell is moving into the final stages of planning a major enhanced recovery project for the Denver unit. Shell also has interest in 21 other fields that had been identified as having CO/sub 2/ flood potentials. The company's share of the combined potential oil recovery from these other fields could be ca 88 million bbl.
