Time-resolved infrared emission spectra were measured in the wavelength region of 1.0-1.8 ..mu..m for the CO/sub 2/-laser-induced photolysis of trifluoromethane-d (CDF/sub 3/, absorbing molecule) and its mixtures with trifluoromethane-h (CHF/sub 3/, nonabsorbing molecule). The second overtone emission due to vibrationally excited DF* or HF* was observed in the region. The emission consists of three components with different transient behaviors, i.e., instantaneous, delayed, and tail components in both pure CDF/sub 3/ and mixtures. The observed results are explained by the mechanism involving a V-V or V-T,R equilibrium process.
