Pontecorvo reactions in {bar p}d annihilations at rest

The first observation of Pontecorvo reactions of the type {bar p}d {yields} Xn is reported. The outgoing meson is fully reconstructed, and the following preliminary branching ratios are found for antiprotons stopped in liquid deuterium: BR({bar p}d {yields} {pi}{sup 0}n) = (7.31 {+-} 0.64) {times} 10{sup {minus}6}, BR({bar p}d {yields} {eta}n) = (2.91 {+-} 0.44) {times} 10{sup {minus}6}, BR({bar p}d {yields} {omega}n) = (22.6 {+-} 5.5) {times} 10{sup {minus}6}, BR({bar p}d {yields} {eta}{prime}n) = (13.5 {+-} 4.3) {times} 10{sup {minus}6}. 22 refs., 5 figs., 1 tab.
