This patent describes a process for stabilizing distillate fuel oil. It comprises adding to the fuel oil and effective stabilizing amount of a mixture of a phosphite compound selected from the group consisting of triethylphosphite, triphenylphosphite, ethylhexyldiphenylphosphite and triisooctyl phosphite and acetic acid, wherein the weight ratio is about 1:5 to about 1000:1.
