  1. Univ. of Texas, Austin (United States)
The research reactor facility at the University of Texas at Austin has been relocated to a research campus 8 miles north of the main campus. From 1963 to 1988, the university operated a Mark I TRIGA reactor on the main campus. The research campus, named the Balcones Research Center, is being developed by the university as a site for academic and industrial research programs. The new reactor facility, called the Nuclear Engineering Teaching Laboratory (NETL), is one of six academic buildings constructed at the Balcones Research Center during the last 10 years. The new reactor facility at the Balcones Research Center will enhance ability to carry on teaching and research activities. In these days of limited federal support of research reactors, strong university backing is essential for the success of such an effort.
