The Sixteenth International Conference on Coal Mine Safety Research was held in Washington, D.C., September 22-26, 1975. Papers have been entered individually into ERA and EDB. Sessions covered electrical apparatus in coal mines (fire and explosion prevention, short circuits, electric shock, etc.), underground fires, instrumentation, communications (including remote sensing, methane monitoring, automatic shutdown), explosives and blasting (safety, new types of explosive, fumes), methane (drainage, control or recovery), ventilation, methane and/or dust explosions (suppression by triggered barriers, ignition), and haulage and hoisting equipment.
