Multiphonon vibrational states in deformed nuclei

The [sup 154]Gd nucleus was studied by [gamma]-ray spectroscopy following the ([alpha],2[ital n]) reaction at an energy of 26 MeV. We identified the double-phonon [ital K]=4[sup +] [gamma][gamma] vibrational band in this nucleus at 1645.8 keV. Also, we present the systematics of possible [ital K]=4[sup +] double phonon vibrational bands in the deformed rare-earth region of nuclei.
