Pion Electroproduction on Nuclei

The pion production cross ssction on nuclei is calculated by averaging over the nucleon momentum distribution the squared matrix element for the reaction on nucleons. The amplitude of the elementary process is derived from the dispersion relations for fixed t value. The numerical results are compared with the experimental data for total pion electroproduction in the region of the first ..pi..N resonance for deuterons and for the /sup 12/C nucleus.
