Title: Elastic and inelastic scattering of sup 3 He, sup 6 Li, sup 9 Be, and sup 12 C ions by sup 58 Ni nuclei at near-barrier energies

A semiclassical and a quantum-mechanical analysis are carried out of the angular distributions of elastic and inelastic scattering of ions of {sup 3}He, {sup 6}Li, {sup 9}Be, and {sup 12}C by {sup 58}Ni nuclei with excitation of the 2{sup +} state ({ital E}{sub {ital x}}=1.45 MeV) at near-barrier energies. A combined description of the data on elastic and inelastic scattering permits a decrease of the ambiguity in determination of the real nuclear potential at the periphery of the nucleus. Comparison of the potentials obtained shows that at sufficiently large distances ({ge}7F) the nuclear interaction potential is proportional to the mass of the incident particle.
