Limits on baryonium production in antiproton-proton interactions

Thesis/Dissertation ·
OSTI ID:5007072
Results are present from a search for baryonium production in antiproton-proton interactions at 8.3 and 13.0 GeV/c performed using the Large Aperture Solenoid Spectrometer at SLAC. Two data samples were selected for study; one which included baryon exchange events in which a baryonium was produced in the forward (p) direction, and the other which isolated backwards baryon exchange production of baryonium. The two data samples were complementary and subject to different sources of error. The absence of a signal in both of these data samples allowed stringent cross section upper limits to be established for the production of baryonium in antiproton-proton interactions.
