An unprecedented peak of activity in secondary recovery, petrochemical-plant construction, and oil-terminal modernization highlight Petrobras' present drive to bring Brazil's petroleum industry to an optimum level of efficiency. Main accomplishments are the operation of 26 water and gas-injection projects now covering 80% of the oil in place in Bahia; the creation of a new center of petrochemical development near Salvador; and the expansion of the country's 5 oil terminals.
