Application of Fourier transform in gamma-spectra evaluation

A method of on-line gamma-specira evaluation by means of a small computer, employing Fourier transforms, is described. The program performs the acquisition and recording of data, then the Fourier transform properties are used to smooth the spectra. By employing the appropriate apparatus function in the transform domain the improvement of resolution is achieved which permits in cases of good statistics to resolve double peaks spaced as close as 1/10 of FWHM. The program is written partly in PALD, partly in FOCAL-12 and can be run on a PDP-12 computer with 8 K memory. With slight changes it is also possible to run it on a PDP-8. (auth)
