Irradiation effects on Hasiguti peaks in gold and aluminum

From conference on internal friction and ultrasonic attenuation in crystalline solids; Aachen, F. R. Germany (27 Aug 1973). Deformed and annealed Au and Al were irradiated by either 2-MeV electrons at 20 deg K or neutrons at 77 deg K. The Hasiguti (internal friction) peaks appear after plastic deformation at low temperature and after irradiation, providing a dislocation network is already present. The peaks are explained by the point defects pinning the dislocations. A model of the recovery (stages II and III) is proposed. (DLC)
