Calibration of orifice plates used in AGR single pin tests in No. 2 CO$sub 2$ rig at Berkeley Nuclear Laboratories

Calibration was made of a 1 in. orifice plate for mass flow rate measurement which is incorporated in a test channel used for single pin heat transfer and pressure drop tests. At the same time a 1.5 in. CO/sub 2/ rig orifice plate was calibrated. The range of flow rates was that used for single pin testing. Expressions are given that allow direct computation of the true mass flow rate from the usual orifice plate data. The discharge coefficient determined from this calibration is subject to an error with 95% confidence interval of plus or minus 0.5%. (auth)
