CALIBRATION OF SRE TYPE ORIFICE PLATES

The orifice plates for the SRE were calibrated in the hydraulic model tank loop at the Santa Susana Facility. Orifice plates having hole diameters of 0.250, 0.375, and 0.424 in. were studied in pressure drop ranges from 0.1 to 3 psig with the orifice plate assembly mounted coaxially in the pipe. Discharge coefficients ranging from 0.79 to 1.00 were obtained for Reynolds Numbers from 2 x 10/sup 4/ to 3 x 10/sup 5/. (auth)
