Irradiation facilities for LWR fuel testing in the Studsvik R2 reactor
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4934972
Irradiation testing of LWR fuel plays an important role in the development of reliable and economical fuel designs. With the accumulated experience of power reactor operation the need for sophisticated, well defined fuel experiments has increased. At the Studsvik R2 reactor a number of irradiation facilities have been developed to cover this need. The design and functions of these facilities as well as the neutron physics characteristics are described. The use of neutron absorbers as a means of controlling the irradiation conditions has been established in the R2 reactor and some applications are described. 7 references. (auth)
