Alpha-particles from $sup 197$Au irradiated by 500-MeV bremsstrahlung

The energy and angular distributions of alpha-particles in the reaction / sup 197/Au( gamma , alpha ) were measured at nine different angles for bremsstrahlung with peak energy 500 MeV. The measurements were made using a telescope consisting of three Si surface-barrier detectors. The experimental results are compared with cascadeevaporations calculations and the angular distributions indicate the presence of directly-emitted alpha -particles in competition with evaporated.
