Thermionic core-configurations of the critical assembly ITR (in German)

The physical properties of the ITR such as compactness, heterogeneity, and the new specific materials for the thermionic-zone required a critical experiment for checking the design calculations. The thermionic configurations and the mockup of the ITR are described. The experimental results are compared with actual available calculations of other authors. The results show that there are differences between experiment and calculation of kinetic parameters of small configurations, of reactivity values containing Wolfram components, and of power flattening. Monte Carlo methods and measuring techniques developed were successfully tested for reactivity disturbances introduced by the reflector even for complicated geometries. (auth)
