Equipment set up for the preparation of CeF/sub 3/, PuF/sub 3/, and ThF/ sub 4 and purification of LiF-BeF/sub 2/-ThF/sub 4/ mixture for the determination of solubility of CeF/sub 3/ and PuF/sub 3/ in ternary mixtures of LiF-BeF/sub 2/ - --ThF/sub 4/ and binary mixtures of LiF-ThF/sub 4/ is described. Using this equipment the preparation of 75 g of CeF/sub 3/ tagged with /sup 144/Ce and 60 g of PuF/sub 3/ and purification of 1.2 kg of LiF-BeF/sub 2/-ThF/sub 4/ mixtu re have been carried out. The analysis of compounds for flouride by pyrohydrolysis and the estimation of Li, Be, and Th in the salt mixture has been reported. (auth)
