Spectrographic analysis of high purity antimony for seventeen trace impurities

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4933071
ABS>A dc arc spectrographic method to determine impurities like B, Ni, Pb etc in high-purity Sb is described. Antimony metal powder was mixed with pure conducting graphite powder in the ratio 10: 1 by weight and fifty milligrams of this mixture was arced at 10 amp dc in oxygen atmosphere using Stallwood-jet assembly. The spectra were recorded in the first order of a JACO Ebert plane grating spectrograph using 1200 lines/mm grating blazed at 3300 A. Chromium was used as internal standard element. The sensitivity of analysis ranges from 1 x 10 /sup -5/ to 10/sup -3/%. (auth)
