Preparation of ultra-clean coals by oil agglomeration
Oil agglomeration is a very important method to prepare Ultra-Clean coals. Ten kinds of Chinese coals from seven provinces were collected to be tested by oil agglomeration. This method requires to mill coals to rather fine particle size. Conventional wet ceramic ball grinding is a technology feasible process for reducing these coals down to an average particle size below 10 microns. It was found that oxygen content in coal is a very important factor to affect oil agglomeration. When oxygen content in coals is high, some additives would be added in the slurry to improve the surface quality of coals. For SM and WJL coals, being typical in China, the possible de-ashing process may be that consisting of physical concentration followed by oil agglomeration method. Ultra-Clean coal with ash content from 0.40 % to 0.95 % can be attained from SM, and from WJL coal.
