Evidence for multibody breakup of the boron isotopes by 25 MeV alphas

Conference ·
OSTI ID:4876341
Data taken in experiments designed to seek evidence of alpha -particle clusters in light nuclei are presented. Results for B/sup 10/ and B/sup 11/ are given; results for Be/sup 9/ and C/sup 12/ were reported previously. It is concluded that the 25-Mev alpha induced spectra from all stable target nuclei of masses 9 through 12 show a low-energy continuum that can be approximately fitted by a simple three- or four-body phase space distribution.
