Application of the Mandelstam representation to pion-nucleon scattering

Conference ·
OSTI ID:4859931

Methods of obtaining theoretical predictions for pionnucleon scattering from the Mandelstam representation are discussed. Two approaches to the problem are presented: the partial wave dispersion relations and a modification of the method of Chew, Goldberger, Low, and Nambu. Crossing symmetry was used to reduce the number of parameters. The short-range forces were treated phenomenologically by representing them by poles or subtraction constants. (M.C.G.)
