EXPERIMENTAL EVIDENCE FOR QUANTIZED FLUX IN SUPERCONDUCTING CYLINDERS

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Letters
The magnetic flux trapped inside hollow superconducting tin cylinders, upon removal of an applied magnetic field B, is measured as a function of B. The cylinders are plated on copper wires, with thicknesses of 1.5 and 5 mu . The trapped flux is found to be quantized in units of hc/2e, and jumps between the quantized flux levels are found to occur at relative B values of 1, 3, 5, and 7. (T.F.H.)
