A tubular fuel element, primarily intended for application in organic moderated reactors, is described. It comprises an annular container which holds several (e.g. 2) coaxial, annular, canned fuel plates between its walls. The cans are provided on both sides with helical fins. The fins of adjacent surfaces are wound in opposite directions and contact each other. Coolant passages are thus created between the fuel plates, while the central channel serves for the passage of a liquid moderator or for the insertion of a moderator or control rod. (NPO)
