DYNAMIC NUCLEAR ORIENTATION

Journal Article · · Progr. in Cryogenics
OSTI ID:4843469

The solid state aspects of dynamic nuclear orientation are considered and some attention is given to the experimental techniques and results obtained. The discussion is lindted primarily to solids at low temperatures. Descriptions and characteristics are given of the equipment used in dynamic orientation processes. Methods discussed for dymamic nuclear orientation include transient methods, paramagnetic resonance saturation, ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic resonance saturation, orientation by hot conduction electrons, and acoustic excitation. Experiments reviewed and discussed are for the low temperature dynamic nuclear orientation of radioisotopes, dipolar coupling orientation, nuclear cooling, and Overhauser effect in metals, semiconductors, and free radicals, (N.W.R.)
