A review is given of the current data on the hot atom chemistry in organic systems. The behavior of the product atoms from slow neutron capture, the effects of the temperature and composition on the retention of the radioactive atom in (n, gamma ) reactions, and the relation of the mass and initial recoil energy of the particles on the retention in elastic collisions are discussed.
