Fundamentals about characteristic temperature and convection stage start temperature in Professor Imao Tamura`s investigations
- Engineering Thermophysics Institute of National Academy of Sciences, Kyiv (Ukraine)
It is shown that the characteristic temperature (Tc) and temperature of the commencement of the convection heat transfer (Td) are very important parameters which can be regulated in a wide range. Parameter Tc is tied linearly with the first and second critical heat flux density which are important physical values in characterizing cooling behavior of quenchants. So in the further it is necessary to standardize methods, versions and equipment for the determination of the first and second critical heat flux density. The dimensionless dependencies are proposed for the calculation of rate and time of cooling bodies of simple and complicated configurations, which are in the combination with quench cooling versions proposed can serve as a basis of the design of technological quench conditions. The notion of self-regulated heat process is introduced, the essence of which lies in that in nonstationary nucleate boiling the temperature of the surface is changed insignificantly and differ just a little from value Td which can be effectively regulated by the changes of boiling temperature of the wall layer. On the basis of such regularities the intensive steel quenching methods are proposed.
