CHARGE EXCHANGE OF Xe$sup 3+$ AND Xe$sup 4+$ IN NEON (in Russian)

The cross sections for electron capture in single collisions between Xe/ sup 3+/ and Xe/sup 4+/ ions and Ne atoms are measured. For accelerating voltages between 2 to 30 kv the capture cross sections sigma /sup 32/ and sigma /sup 43/ are large and attain values of the order of 10/sup -15/ cm/sup 2/. The absolute magnltude sigma /sup 32/ is greater than that of 043 and is maximum at a relave ion velocity V approximates lO/sup 7/ cm/sec. The cross section sigma /sup 43/ ;ows with the kinetic energy of the Xe4+ ions for all elocities in the investigated interval. The experimental data are compared with results of calculations carried out by the Landau-- Zener method of pseudo-intersection of potential energy curves. The agreement between the calculated and experimental curves for sigma /sup 3/ (v) and sigma 3(v) is satisfactory. (auth)
