MULTIPLE SELF-SHIELDED BURNABLE POISONS FOR REACTOR CONTROL (thesis)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4839721
A generalized reactor fuel burn-up code, MELEAGER, was extended to treat self-shielded burnable poisons. A study of mechanical control minimization was carried out for a single reactor. B/sup 10/ was used as a poison in both selfshielded and unshielded forms. Combinations of two different self-shielded boron burnable poisons were found to yield the most satisfactory reactivity response. Unshielded europiunm, both alone and with self-shielded B/sup 10/, was tried with mediocre results. (auth)
