A BURNABLE POISON OPTIMIZATION STUDY

Thermal utilization variation is considered for reactors with unshielded enriched U/sup 235/ as fuel and with one (shielded) burnable poison. A method is developed for determining optimum fuel, burnable poison, and permanent poison loadings as well as the burnable poison self-shielding which gives desirable mis match characteristics.
