The effect of added lithium bromide on the visible spectrum of the free radical anion of mono-lithium benzophenone in tetrahydrofuran was examined. The resuits indicated some form of clustering between the two species even at concertrations of less than 10/sup -3/ M-bar. The positions of the peak maximum of mono-alkali metal benzophenones in toluene, dimethoxyethane, and dimethyl formamide were measured. The results are discussed in terms of the solvating powers of the media. (auth)
