On the Transfer of Energy in Radiolysis

The transfer of energy in radiolysis in the presence of minor amounts of excitation acceptors is considered. A theory for direct electromagnetic energy transfer from an excited molecule to a molecule of the acceptor is derived from experimental data on the decrease in the radiationinduced yield as a function of concentration. A corresponding law is deduced and certain relations predicted. The latter are confirmed by experimental data. (auth)
