The angular distributions for the elastic and inelastic scattering of 19.17-Mev deuterons by C/sup 12/ nuclei were measured using the photographic technique. The observed distributions were checked with the general predictions of the nuclear optical model and of the direct interaction theories of Huby-Newns and Austern-Butler-McManus. (auth)
