An improvement is described for reactors with cores positioned inside pressure vessels. The supporting structure allows limited horizontal displacements of the core relative to the pressure vessel and of the vessel relative to sole pieces fixed on the ground. The core rests on a series of roller bearings, each comprising at least two rollers and being supported on a ball that rests in the concave end of one of a series of rigid stays fixed to the pressure vessel wall. Each of these stays extends in a vertical direction outside the pressure vessel wall and rests on one of the sole pieces through a similar connecting ball and roller bearing. (NPO)
