<>16:000444An earlier report which critically evaluated the litera- ture pertaining to the effects of ionizing radiations on the wholesomeness of sea foods is continued. The problem is discussed in terms of three parameters: changes in the microflora on sea food following treatment with ionizing radiation; radiation-induced changes in the organoleptic qualities of marine products; and wholesomeness of irradiated sea food in terms of changes in nutrients and the possible production of toxic factors. In all three areas, the pertinent literature which has become available during the past year was assessed and critically evaluated. In addition, a number of papers not reported earlier were also discussed. (auth)
