REVIEW OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY'S IRRADIATED FOOD WHOLESOMENESS PROGRAM. Report No. 268

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4629124

The wholesomeness of food involves nutritive value and toxic effects. Results are reviewed from studies conducted over a 2-yr period on the effects of radiation processing on the wholesomeness of foods incorporated into the diets of rats and dogs. It was concluded that any adverse effects resulting from feeding irradiated foods are the result of nutrient alterations such as occur in other processing procedures. (C.H.)
