HIGH TEMPERATURE FRICTION AND WEAR STUDIES . Milestone I, Task 434311, Job 51146

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4836610
The results and conclusions of the first half of the program High Temperature Friction and Wear Studies'' are presented. A survey was made of testing and application techniques considered for use in air over the temperature ranges 70 to 1200 and 70 to 1600 deg F. As a result of this study the second half of the program will concentrate on the utilization of hard materials such as cermets and ceramics to be used in conjunction with themselves and softer structural materials that have a lubricant supply held in surface cavities.
