A method is given for producing reactor slurries in which the fuel grains are completely wetted by the liquid metal. The metal comprises arcing H/ sub 2/ to produce atomic H and passing the atomic H to the surface of the liquid metal on which fuel grains are situated, whereby the grains and metal deoxidize and the grains are wetted completely. The liquid preferabIy is Pb or Bi or an alloy thereof or with other metals, and the fuel grains preferably consists of U, Th, or Pu or alloys or compounds thereof. (D.L.C.)
