METHOD OF PREPARING CARBON WITH A LOW PERMEABILITY

The permeability of a carbon body is decreased by degassing the body and impregnating it with a mixture of furfural and 3 to 5% furfuryl alcohol which is thickened with cellulose acetate or ethyl cellulose. The impregnant is polymerized and finally carbonized at 1000 deg C. (NPO)
