Reactions of H atoms produced by mercury-photosensitized decomposition of butane and C3H6 or C3D6 were carried out at 25 deg C in mixtures of 450 mm butane and varying small amounts of olefin. The secondary isotope effect in the addition of H atoms to C3D6 and C3H6 was found to be k(D)/k(H) = 1.078 plus or minus 0.037. (D.L.C.)
