An Improved Method for the Determination of Trace Quantities of Plutonium in Aqueous Media-II Interference of Iron, Calcium, Uranium and Chlorine; Application to Seawater and Urine

Journal Article · · Health Physics
The applicability of the method for the determination of plutonium in aqueous media by solvent extraction with cupferron was extended. It is shown that relatively large quantities of iron and calcium do not interfere. In addition, the interference of uranium was studied. Modifications required for application of the method to urine and seawater are given. A nomogram is presented enabling the estimation of the relative importance of uranium and plutonium if both are present in the same sample. (auth)
