An Improved Method for the Determination of Trace Quantities of Plutonium in Aqueous Media-I Method and Procedure

Journal Article · · Health Physics
Improvements were made on a recently published method for the determination of tracer amounts of plutonium in aqueous media. Essentially the method consists of a bismuth phosphate co-precipitation and an extraction with cupferron as a complexing agent. The method was considerably refined and its sensitivity was increased so that concentrations down to 10-/sup 10/ mu C/ml can be determined with a 100% yield. The method now applies to waters containing relatively large concentrations of iron and/or calcium. (P.C.H.)
