An improved electrical vacuum getter pump or gage is designed which is simple, gives extremely low pressures, and has increased pumping speeds. The pump comprises a closed envelope with cathode and anode structures for producing a glow discharge and with means for producing a magnetic field through the anode structure. The field imparts a cycloidal trajectory to the electrons of the discharge, thereby incrcasing chances of collisions with neutral gas molecules. The pump also may have a current measuring device which serves a monitor of the pump gas pressure. Several embodiments of the pump are described. (D.L.C.)
