A study was made to determine if certain well-known laws of the kinetics of development, applicable to ordinary photographic emulsions, can be applied to Ilford G-5 emulsions. A study was first made to deterniine if the development speed at the ionization mnnimum can be satisfactorily represented by the equations of Sheppard, Mees, and Nietz. The results are in good agreement with the Sheppard equation. The effect of temperature on development speed can be expressed by the Arrhenius equation for the effect of temperature on a chemical reaction. (J.S.R.)
